Program A
April 1 & 2 | 7:30 PM | $20
Over the course of three weeks, current & past Object Movement Resident Artists will present a brand new short piece of puppetry, developed while in residence at The Center at West Park.
PROGRAM A PERFORMANCES
How I Disappeared by Tianding He
How I Disappeared is an interactive and immersive puppetry experience that reveals, through stories of animals, a new immigrant's unnoticeable urban life. How I Disappeared is created by a group of Chinese female artists and will feature audience participation as some audience members will be invited on stage to take part in the show.
The Story of Baba Vanga by Tyler B. Quick
The Story of Baba Vanga is an exploration of the life of blind, Bulgarian clairvoyant Baba Vanga, using experimental yarn puppetry and Balkan folk music. A woman thrust into the limelight because of her abilities, Vanga was made a tabloid by mainstream media, eliminating her humanity in the public eye. This is a bare-bones story of the key parts of her life, adding back the humanity that is deserved by even the outliers of society.
Evan Hiplek’s Flea-for-All by Kevin P. Hale
It's a flea circus...or is it? The illustrious American author Herman Melville wrote, “No great and enduring volume can ever be written on the flea." Evan Hiplek’s Flea-for-All is going to prove him wrong!
