PROGRAM B PERFORMANCES

SET IN STONE (a workshop) by Sara Stern

Across a series of vignettes, "Marble Man" and "Glass Girl" emerge from their namesake architectural materials speaking (and singing) as puppets of the built environment.

The Changing Room by Brzezinski & Schap

The Changing Room is a multilayered shadow nightmare that reflects the absurd and tumultuous experience that can accompany trying on clothes. Using a mix of live and filmed puppetry, bodies and objects become shadow screens as well as characters – subject to grotesque images of anatomy transformations and manipulation. Through this shadow world, the show looks at how bodies are viewed, limited, and reduced. The result is a hauntingly beautiful piece that seeks to delight and unsettle.

Tin Iso and the Dawn by Tristan Allen

Music and sound, light and shadow collide in examining the universal longing to make sense of loss and what's beyond. Tin Iso and the Dawn is a full-length, wordless, shadow puppet show performed with an original, recorded score. Acts III and IV will be presented for the Object Movement Festival. This excerpt follows characters Tin and Iso in their journey through the unknown culminating in a rising sun and the beginning of life.

Dirt by Amanda Card

How can you put down roots when you don’t have a green thumb? With Appalachian inspired music created by Mikey Rose, Amanda Glynn Card uses crankie and shadow puppetry to explore the stories that her Mama told her that her Mama’s Mama told her that her Mama’s Mama’s Mama told her.
