Join CWP for the August meeting of our monthly CWP Book Club and FilmScreening , featuring discussion of Salman Rushdie's classic novel Midnight’s Children at 6pm, followed by a screening of the 2012 film adaptation in our Sanctuary space at 7pm.

ABOUT MIDNIGHT’S CHILDREN

Midnight's Children is a 1981 novel by Indian-British writer Salman Rushdie about India's transition from British colonial rule to independence and partition. It is a postcolonial, postmodern and magical realist story told by its chief protagonist, Saleem Sinai, set in the context of historical events.

The 2012 film adaptation features a screenplay by Rushdie and was directed by Deepa Mehta. The film was a nominee for Best Picture and seven other categories at the 1st Canadian Screen Awards, winning two awards.
