Furnace Festival

The Furnace Festival is a workshop forum for incendiary new plays, developed in residence at The Center at West Park. Participants are given one week in the Center’s 60-seat Balcony Theater, a 50% split of the box office, and up to 20 additional hours of free rehearsal space to forge a new play in the fiery heat of New York in August, culminating in a fully-staged workshop performance on a Saturday night.

Much more than a reading series, the Furnace Festival supports generative artists in transitioning their ideas from the page to the stage. This is an opportunity for artists to experiment with new ideas and for audiences to participate in the creation of new work. Playwrights, directors working with original texts, and collaborative writing and devising ensembles are all welcome to apply.

All tickets to the Furnace Festival are just $10 and include an ice cold refreshment to help you beat the heat.

Applications for the 2019 Furnace Festival are now closed. Participants in the festival will be announced soon.
