Outer Side is a multimedia audiovisual project that draws connections between human emotions and the Solar System. The 60-minute work will be divided into 5 pieces, each inspired by operatic arias, distance and texture of planets. Each piece represents a multidimensional sonic being that breathes through the voice of JU-EH.
Through conceptual representations, the face of JU-EH becomes a visual center, surrounded by sonic beings built by five different young composers with different cultural scopes: Chinese-European, Iranian, Indian-American, Caucasian-New York, Caucasian-Seattle.
Each sonic being follows its own creative process, also in dialogue with others, rotating and orbiting simultaneously. Outer Side seeks the side in us that is not limited to our human capacity, awakening deep emotions through a proactive voice which yells for liberation from conformity in ways of opera, atmospheric electronics, extended vocal techniques, improvisation, projection design, makeup arts and extended realities.
The Open Studio event is going to reveal the behind the scenes ‘magic’, some work in progress visual contents, hearing about each of the Outer Side artist team member talking through our involvements.
The Open Studio will last for about 60 minutes via Zoom, taking place onsite at Center at West Park as part of their fall 2020 virtual season. This event is made possible by the support of The Center at West Park and The Brooklyn Arts Council.
