“Engages the viewers senses of sight, hearing, and touch to draw you deeply into the moment . . . the extent of its power can be hypnotic” -World Policy Institute
Melting Ice/Changing Winds continues the collaboration between choreographer Jody Sperling and composer Matthew Burtner, both acclaimed for their creative engagement with climate. This entrancing dance and music program features the Time Lapse Dance company and live musical performances by Burtner.
A highlight is the world premiere of Wind Rose, visualizing and sonifying winds patterns that are changing dramatically along with the earths atmosphere. The program also features the Ice Cycle, a “chillingly-apt” work inspired by Sperling’s experience dancing on Arctic sea ice. The program concludes with Northern Sky, a whirling meditation.
There will be an after-school kids/family program on Tues, April 9 at 3:30pm featuring a short performance and participatory workshop.
Join us on Wed. April 10 before the show for a benefit reception. Enjoy champagne, hors d’oeuvres and a chance to mingle with the artists.
