Embracing the Root: Music & Science Salon

As a pre-event for the upcoming world premiere of EMBRACING THE ROOT, we are pleased to invite audience members to a magical evening program presenting both art and science perspectives on human psychiatry and the climate change around us - and within us.

Access:

  • Accessible seating is available.

  • Wheelchair-accessible entrance is on 86th Street.

  • Entrance on Amsterdam Avenue has stairs.

  • Please note the venue's bathrooms are downstairs and are not handicap accessible.


SALON PARTICIPANTS

Carman moore

Award-winning NYC composer and co-creator of Embracing the Root

At the Music & Science Salon Carman will play 5 songs from the work along with a presentation of ETR storyline and climate change perspectives.  

 

Lotte Arnsbjerg 

Danish actress, lyricist and vocalist. 

Lotte will sing on the 5 songs and join Carman in presenting the ETR storyline and project.   

 

Premik Russell Tubbs

World famed saxophonist and woodwin master who has recorded or/and performed with great artists such as Sting, Whitney Houston, Herbie Hancock, Carlos Santana, Billy Joel, Lady Gaga; James Taylor and many more. At the Music & Science Salon Premik will join Carman and Lotte in the presentation of 5 songs.  

 

Sofia Hidalgo

NYC-based neuroscientist and biologist specializing for the ETR project concerning new science on trees and roots - and the human brain and nervous system. 

"New science reports that trees are capable of facilitating communication, retaining memory and even learning through their own special nervous system."

 

Anders Soerensen  

Psychologist and scientist, Ph.d. in psychiatry, specialized in helping people come off psychiatric drugs and in drug-free, psychotherapeutic treatment of psychopathology like depression, anxiety and psychosis. Anders is presenting his perspective on how to heal from psychopathology without drugs, but via our own minds. "As trees and plants know how to share aid and heal in terms of survival, the human body and brain have similar and natural inherent ressources - but we need to find them and to use them properly". 

 

Peter Yarrow

Co-creator of the famed folk trio Peter, Paul and Mary

Ambassador and co-producer for Embracing The Root project. 

At the Music & Science Salon, Peter will close the event with a goodnight song.

7:00 pm: Introduction by Neuroscientist and biologist Sofia Hidalgo (US) & P.hd psychologist Anders Soerensen

7:30 pm: Embracing the Root: Music & Video presentation by NYC Composer Carman Moore & Co-composer/ Vocalist Lotte Arnsbjerg

8:00 pm: Meet & Greet - The bar is open

8:30 pm: Disease or natural reaction? Lecture by P.hd psychologist Anders Soerensen (DK)

9:00 pm: The dialogue continues -- with a bite and a glass

9:45 pm: Good Night Song performed by Peter Yarrow


Embracing the Root - MUSIC & SCIENCE SALON is also a way to spread the word, raise funds, and create a dialogue on positive approaches to climate change and survival of the species, we are happy to announce this Salon as a free, public event.

Embracing the Root will premiere in Copenhagen & New York in the Fall of 2023.
